on the brink of greatness

my man, jacques kallis, on the left

as i said in wednesday’s post, one of the things i love about cricket is the stats! in the world cricket ratings jacques kallis has just reached his highest ever rating and is now ranked no. 2 in the world. even more exciting than that is the fact that he is now on the brink of breaking into the all-time top 10 ratings.

imagine that – being statistically considered one of the top 10 batsmen of all time!

after scoring 186 runs in the last match his rating jumped up 18 points, and it only needs to climb another 14 points for him to reach the #10 spot. if he can continue playing above his average for the rest of the south african summer then by the end of it he should get there.

the next match starts this morning and its against new zealand again.

go jacques kallis!!

by the way, for those of you that are interested, i’ve copied an article from wikipedia that compares baseball to cricket and made it into a page on my sidebar.

I know nothing about the sport at all, but am impressed with the list of authors who do!
