back in england

 

my mom and tinkerbell (a.k.a. attack-cat (a name which more accurately describes her demeanour). she used to wear a bell and “tinker-bell” is a bit of a joke that stuck, because although she looks cute and fluffy, “tinkerbell” couldn’t be a more inappropriate name))

yep, i’m back, and its raining. 

actually, its not that bad. i’m rather in the mood for a bit of rain. i just won’t think about the fact that it’ll probably rain all the way up until june… but for now its nice.

(i’ve had to write this post over three days, and today, as i finish the post, suddenly the sun has come out… haha…!)

it was very good to see my family and friends and it was hard to leave in the end. each time i leave my mom goes all humpty-dumpty and falls apart. its terrible.

and then each time i leave england charlotte falls apart too. so… i really wish i could join my life here in england with that in south africa…

its very sad.

i did, however, take lots of photos! so soon you guys will be seeing a few more bits of my mom’s house, her cats, my friends and the sun (i went a bit bonkers and took photos of sunsets and the sun hitting the table-cloth and the sun shining through the trees! its just so bright and beautiful, unlike the reluctant and limp sod we have here in our english skies…)!

i’ve really missed all your blogs and cannot wait to start visiting them! between me leaving, and being away, and then settling back again, i’ve barely had time to be on the internet! unfortunately i don’t know if i’ll have quite as much time to spend on blogs as i used to, as charlotte is studying full-time now and often needs the laptop at night, but i’ll still be updating regularly (even if its just something small) and be checking everyone’s blogs every day!

i’ve still felt connected to everyone via the r.i.p. challenge, though! i’ve been loving reading my books. i finished “the claw of the conciliator” and “the zombie survival guide” and am into “dracula”, “world war z” and “the rest falls away”. i’m dissapointed that i haven’t been able to read any reviews for the challenge (except those written by the bloggers on my blogroll) or visit any blogs of the participants – but there’re still two weeks left and i intend to make the most of them!!!

on saturday its the rugby world cup final between england and south africa. the week-end’s rugby results went well – all things considering. france lost to england, but south africa beat argentina. to have both your teams in the semi-final of the world cup is massive and its a bit much to then expect them both to win those games too and reach the final. so i’m glad that one of them, at least, won. although, losing to england is terrible (with all respect to my english friends – harry, i’m thinking of you in particular). it must be some post-colonial inferiority complex, competitiveness thing, but THE ONE TEAM i simply CANNOT STAND to lose to is england. in anything.

it kills me.

so now i’m quite nervous because it would be the death of me if, after france lost to them, south africa lost to them too – and that in the world cup final as well…

what adds insult to injury is how bad england have been (are). from a neutral perspective i find it quite exciting that they’ve done so well – a great deal of it is utter genius. their game plans have been superb and the way they’ve turned their tournament around has been amazing. but really, they just aren’t a very good team. if the prospect of losing to england in the final is death to me, then adding the fact that they are so bad is like digging up my body and doing awful things to it. and then, the further prospect of them crowing about it for years to come and the “greatness” and, and, and all those horrid words i can’t even bring myself to imagine, which have already been doing the rounds…, well, that is like taking my molested and mutilated corpse and re-burying me in an england jersey inside a coffin with a cd player playing “god save the queen” and “swing low sweet chariot” on repeat.

so we simply have to win.
